CALL FOR PAPERS
Edited Special Issue on TOPICS ADDRESSED by the
Fourth Raimundus Lullius Lectures: Sandra Mitchell (Pittsburgh University) during the
Xth Conference of the SLMFCE

Prof. Sandra Mitchell (Pittsburgh University) delivered the Fourth Lullius Lectures on Logic, Methodology, and Philosophy of Science during the Xth General Conference of the SLMFCE in Salamanca in November 2021. On the occasion of the Lectures, the SLMFCE will edit a Special Issue devoted to the philosophy of Sandra Mitchell to be published in THEORIA An International Journal for Theory, History, and Philosophy of Science, including her Lectures and a selection of other submitted papers related to her work.
Contributions on any aspect of Sandra Mitchell’s philosophy are welcome on the topics addressed in her Raimundus Lullius Lectures and also on other philosophical topics to which Prof. Sandra Mitchell has contributed. Some of those are the following:
- Integrative pluralism in science
- Integration of perspectives in scientific models and representations
- Scientific explanations of complex behaviors
- Emergence
- Epistemological aspects of multi-level, multi-component complex systems
- Scientific laws
- Policy decisions and deep uncertainty
- Many topics of Philosophy of Biology, including functional explanation, units of selection in evolutionary biology, sociobiology, biological complexity and self-organization, and biological robustness
